Feb. 8th, 2019 01:12 pmI'd like to get more involved with the community. Does anyone here have experience with the local CELSJR, 350 New Orleans, Indivisible, Worker's Center, or other like-minded organizations? I'm a lawyer with a focus on trans+ and queer rights, if that helps, but my interests range from climate to immigration as well.

Feb. 2nd, 2019 10:20 pmPrevious Name: Enjolras
Myth: Les Miserables (musical, mostly)
Past Life Information: Enjolras was raised by a wealthy family in France. Horrified and infuriated by the barbarous inequality he saw all around him, he rejected his family's position and dedicated himself to the downtrodden. He was the charismatic leader of the revolution (no, not that French revolution--the June Rebellion), and along with his friends, he sought to bring about an uprising. It failed miserably, and Enjolras died for his beliefs, holding hands with Grantaire.
Current Name: Eli Yang
Age: 23
Occupation: Recent law school grad; he's just accepted a legal fellowship with the ACLU
Personality: Eli is charismatic, passionate, and driven. He's magnetic; it's hard to look away when he's on a roll, and he has the sort of creative intensity that makes others feel inspired. He makes a good muse for creative types. He can also be a little exhausting. He has the energy of ten men, with an unflinching and uncompromising drive for doing what he thinks is right. He will eat your face in the name of human rights, but he doesn't have blinders on: he's keenly interested in educating himself about what he doesn't know he doesn't know.
Despite his tendency to be a little extra, Eli (unlike his past life self) does know how to dial it back and have a good time. He's a giant geek--he just happens to be pretty enough that people always assume he's cool--with a interests that vary from the culinary history of Russian immigrants to Pokemon.
Background: Eli grew up in New Jersey, but he made his way to NYC as soon as he was able. He's always been drawn to the heart of the city, fascinated by its energy and people. He was a stellar student and graduated early--both from high school and college--attending Columbia Law School. He's had a pretty wild grab bag of experiences: he worked for NPR through college and law school, was photographed for an exhibit on the evolution of queer beauty, marched on Washington several times, volunteered for political campaigns, participated in Sleep No More, got in legal trouble and became a local meme for punching a Nazi, and more. When he graduated law school, he considered staying in NYC, but an opportunity with the ACLU opened up to him in NOLA and he couldn't say no. Besides, his favorite brother is in NOLA, and it'll be nice to walk children in nature or whatever it is people do to zen out.
